Otto Addo and Technical Staff Owed Months of Unpaid Salaries- GFA

Henry Asante-Twum, the Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has revealed that Black Stars head coach Otto Addo and his backroom staff are owed several months of unpaid salaries.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Game Plan, Asante-Twum clarified that the payment of the national team’s technical staff is the responsibility of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, not the GFA.

“I cannot confirm the exact duration, but there are salary arrears. Otto Addo is owed a few months, and this includes members of the backroom staff,” he said.

Asante-Twum emphasized the need for collaboration with the Ministry, especially in situations involving contract terminations and severance payments.

“It’s important to consult the Ministry because, ultimately, if a decision is made to part ways with the coach, the responsibility for severance payments lies with the Ministry, not the GFA,” he explained.

This revelation adds another layer of complexity to the current challenges facing the national team, especially in light of Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
