“I want Shatta Wale to lead me to the ring for World title fight” – Samuel Takyi
Ghanaian Olympic bronze medalist and rising professional boxer Samuel Takyi has shared a unique dream tied to his aspirations of fighting on the global stage, having dancehall star Shatta Wale lead him to the ring.
Takyi’s admiration for the Ghanaian music icon is no secret, and he believes such a moment would unite sports and entertainment in a powerful way, putting Ghana on the world map.
In a recent interview on Asempa FM’s SportsNite show, Takyi revealed his vision for a future world title bout: “It’s my dream to fight on the world stage with Shatta Wale leading me to the ring, just like 50 Cent did for Mayweather.” He said.

Takyi, who won bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and has since turned professional, is working his way toward a world title shot. With an undefeated record in the pro ranks and mentorship from former world champion Ike “Bazooka” Quartey, his dream may not be far off.
Whether or not Shatta Wale will join him in the ring walk remains to be seen — but one thing is certain: Samuel Takyi has big plans, and he’s not afraid to dream out loud.
