GFA Responds to Concerns Over Condition of Buses Provided to Division One Clubs
Henry Asante Twum, Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has addressed growing concerns about the state of buses recently distributed to Division One League clubs.
He assured the public that the recipient clubs were informed beforehand that the vehicles were not brand new.
On November 20, 2024, the GFA handed over buses to nine clubs across three zones at the Accra Sports Stadium, aiming to enhance transportation logistics and ease the financial burden on teams.
However, following the distribution, videos circulated on social media showing the buses’ worn interiors, prompting widespread criticism and raising questions about the quality of the vehicles.
Speaking in an interview with Joy FM, Asante Twum clarified the situation:
“Clubs were aware the buses were not brand new. I think the concern arose from the condition of some of the buses,” he explained.
“It is unfortunate that some of the clubs received buses that were not in good condition. It was never the intention of the GFA to provide buses that would cause problems for the clubs instead of supporting them,” he added.
