General Secretary of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF), Kenneth Odeng Adade, has assured Ghanaians that the country is fully prepared to host the 2025 African Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championship, scheduled to take place in Accra from August 15 to 22, 2025.

The championship is expected to bring together some of the continent’s most promising young weightlifters, providing a platform for emerging talent to showcase their strength, technique, and determination on the international stage.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Sportsnite, Adade expressed confidence in Ghana’s organizational readiness and called on the public for support to ensure a successful event.

“We are well prepared to host the African Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championship; all we need now is support from Ghanaians,” he stated.

With preparations in place, the GWF is optimistic about delivering a world-class competition that will promote youth development, enhance Ghana’s reputation in global weightlifting, and inspire a new generation of athletes.

The event will also serve as a major opportunity for Team Ghana’s youth and junior lifters to gain international exposure and compete against the best in Africa on home soil.
