Official: Kofi Adams Nominated as Minister of Sports and Recreation

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has nominated Kofi Iddie Adams as the Minister of Sports and Recreation.

The member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency in the Oti region is part of the third batch of ministry nominees released submitted to Parliament, through the Speaker, for prior approval.

He will replace Mustapha Ussif, who was the Minister of Youth and Sports from 2021 during the tenure of former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Kofi Adams, a former National Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is said to be an ardent boxing lover. The sports fraternity will be hoping to that he will bring back the glory days of sports in Ghana.

Kofi Adams will be vetted and approved by Parliament before he assumes his role as the minister for the sports sector.

The 49-year-old has also served as deputy General Secretary in the past for the National Democratic Congress. In December 2014, he was elected as National Organizer for the party in the National Executive elections.

In the run off to the 2016 elections, he was selected as the campaign coordinator of the NDC’s 15-member national campaign team
