Nsoatreman head coach, Maxwell Konadu, has been hospitalised after an attack on him by supporters of Bofoakwa Tano following their Ghana Premier League game on Sunday at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

This happened moments after the goalless drawn game when fans trooped into the inner perimeter, beating Konadu and some of his players.

Konadu was rushed to the Sunyani Regional Hospital for medical attention shortly after the attack.

“At full-time, a section of the home fans invaded the pitch and assaulted our Head Coach and some of our players,” the club said in a statement.

“Coach Maxwell Konadu was subsequently hospitalised…at the Sunyani Regional Hospital.”

Nsoatreman also called on the Ghana Police Service to take action against the perpetrators of the attack.

“We are by this statement calling on the Ghana Police Service to as a matter of urgency investigate, arrest, and prosecute the miscreants who brought our game into disrepute by this act of hooliganism.”

Results have not been forthcoming for Bofoakwa Tano recently. They have just one win in their last 8 league matches.

The draw means Maxwell Konadu’s team maintain their second place with 20 points from 11 matches, 1 point away from leaders Aduana FC who lost 2-1 to Karela United on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Bofoakwa Tano are fifth on the league table with 16 points, struggling for wins after their impressive start.
