Nsoatre fallout: Nsoatreman owner Hon. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah granted bail
Nsoatreman FC owner and former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Hon. Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, has been granted bail following his arrest in connection with the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Nana Pooley.
Baffour-Awuah was arrested alongside club officials Joseph Kyeremeh and Agyemang Duah Owusu after violent clashes erupted during the Ghana Premier League fixture between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko at Nana Konamansah Park on February 3, 2025.
Pooley was fatally stabbed in the post-match violence, sparking national outrage and intensifying calls for urgent measures against hooliganism in Ghanaian football.
While Baffour-Awuah and Kyeremeh have been released on bail, Agyemang Duah Owusu remains in police custody. Authorities reportedly discovered a firearm and bloodstained clothing at his residence, making him a key suspect in the ongoing probe.
Owusu has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to reappear in court on February 17, 2025, where Baffour-Awuah is also expected to face further legal proceedings.
