Nations FC Eye Ghana Premier League Glory Next Season – Johnson Smith
Assistant coach of Nations FC, Johnson Smith, has reaffirmed the club’s ambition to clinch the Ghana Premier League title in the upcoming 2025/26 season.
The Abrankese-based side came agonizingly close to making history last term but fell short, with Bibiani GoldStars eventually crowned champions for the first time.
Nations FC wrapped up the 2024/25 campaign with 60 points, which initially secured them a second-place finish. However, following a three-point deduction over their abandoned week 33 fixture against Basake Holy Stars, the club dropped to fifth on the log, missing out on a top-four spot.
Looking ahead to the new campaign, Johnson Smith, a former Asante Kotoko assistant coach, insists Nations FC will be firmly in the race for the ultimate prize.
“No club wishes to finish at the bottom of the league. As is the case for every club, Nations FC will compete to finish on top of the table next season,” Smith told Kessben FM in an interview.
Since gaining promotion to the Ghanaian top-flight two seasons ago, Nations FC have continued to impress. They finished seventh in their debut season before placing fifth in the recently concluded campaign.
With steady progress and renewed determination, the Abrankese-based outfit will now be aiming to challenge the traditional giants and stake a claim for their first-ever Premier League title.
