The Member of Parliament for New Edubiase, Adams Abdul-Salam, has revealed that the President-elect, John Dramani Mahama, and the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) government are committed to ensuring Ghana’s Black Stars qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This revelation comes at the back of the win of the NDC in the just ended 2024 General Elections in Ghana.

Speaking to the Asempa FM, Abdul-Salam emphasized the importance of prioritizing the 2026 World Cup, especially after Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

“We did not qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament, but we will work closely with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) by providing them with the needed logistics to ensure the team gets qualification,” Abdul-Salam stated.

“It is our biggest objective to ensure the Black Stars qualify for the tournament,” he added, referring to the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Ghana currently second in Group I of the World Cup qualifiers and would play Chad next in March 2025.
