Kurt Okraku Urges Calm as GFA Engages Authorities Over Black Queens Situation in UAE
GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has held discussions with the Black Queens following recent developments in the Middle East, assuring the team that urgent steps are being taken to safeguard their welfare.
The Queens have been in the United Arab Emirates for the past week as part of preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. However, emerging regional events prompted swift engagement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Addressing the players and technical staff, Simeon-Okraku appealed for calm and unity, emphasizing that the Association has been working behind the scenes to assess the situation and determine the best course of action.
He revealed that within the last 24 to 48 hours, the GFA had consulted extensively with key stakeholders, including Ghana’s diplomatic mission in the UAE, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and security advisors to ensure the safety and well-being of the delegation.
In a further show of national solidarity, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and Kofi Adams both reached out to express the government’s full support for the team during this period.
The GFA has called on the public and stakeholders to remain composed as monitoring efforts continue, pledging to provide updates should there be any significant developments.
For now, the focus remains on maintaining calm within camp while authorities work collaboratively to ensure the Black Queens can continue their preparations in safety.
