Ashimeru Sees Red on Full Debut as RAAL La Louviere Fall to Early Setback
Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru’s first start for RAAL La Louviere ended in disappointment after he was sent off in the opening minutes of their clash with K.V. Mechelen on Sunday.
The 28-year-old, who had previously featured as a substitute in matches against Union SG and Anderlecht, was handed a starting role but saw his afternoon cut short in the 16th minute. A VAR review upgraded his challenge to a straight red card, leaving his side with a numerical disadvantage for the majority of the contest.
Ashimeru joined the Belgian outfit on loan from RSC Anderlecht during the winter transfer window, with the deal set to run until the end of the season. At the time of his arrival, the club described him as a key addition, banking on his top-flight experience and technical ability to bolster their midfield options.
The early dismissal represents a setback for both player and club as RAAL La Louviere seek momentum in the second half of the campaign. Ashimeru will now look to put the incident behind him and make a stronger impression once he returns to action.
