Winfred Dormon Blames Poor Decision-Making for Missed Win Against Karela United
Head coach of Dreams FC, Winfred Dormon, has expressed disappointment over his team’s inability to make the most of their chances in the 1-1 draw with Karela United in their Matchday 9 Ghana Premier League clash on Sunday.
The “Still Believe” side had to fight back after Malik Abubakar gave Karela the lead at the Aliu Mahama Stadium, with Seidu Suraj restoring parity early in the second half.
Despite the improved second-half display, Dormon felt that poor decision-making in attack cost his side the opportunity to snatch all three points.
“Our game plan was to stay compact, contain them, and hit in transition,” Dormon said.
“In the first half, Karela were right in the game because we didn’t play well. What hurt us most was our decision-making in the final third.”
The former assistant coach of Dreams FC noted that although his players showed character to fight back, they must be more clinical and composed in attacking situations if they want to win such games.
“In our last two games, we’ve scored three goals, which shows our progress,” he added.
“This team has a lot of potential — we’ll keep pushing and focus on maintaining consistency, because that’s what truly matters.”
The draw leaves Karela United in ninth position on the league table, while Dreams FC sit 13th after nine matches.
Dreams FC will return to action next weekend when they host Hohoe United, aiming to build momentum and climb further up the Ghana Premier League standings.
