Despite numerous promises made by Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku at the 29th Ordinary Congress of the Association, former vice-president of GFA George Akwasi Afriyie is not perturbed at all.

With confidence, he insist the clubs know what they want and people like himself ain’t scared of the huge promises made by the incumbent Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku.

At the event which took place in Kumasi, the Great Hall of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku made several promises to the clubs that he will do when retained as President. One of it, was the promise to give buses to all Premier League clubs aside incentives and football boots.

Both the Division One League and Women’s football were not left out of the big promises, as he announced to Congress a whooping sum of GHC80,000 and GHC60,000 incentives for Division One League clubs and Women’s teams respectively before next season starts. He added that the GFA’s partnership with GOIL is extended for one more year, therefore all Women’s Premier League clubs will be offered fuel incentives including buses.

Referees, Colts football, coaches and Catch Them Young Referees were also not left out, huge promises was made to them.

Nevertheless, former Black Stars management committee chairman and WAFU Zone B President George Afriyie says, all are fake and football people really know what they want and won’t be deceived after Kurt Okraku failed to accomplish his 2019 manifesto promises which included fixing the fundamentals of Ghana Football.

“When we gave him 4-years, what has he fulfilled for us in his manifesto?

“Then you give FAKE promise of giving buses to clubs. Just say that and go because its an election year. All that, he said are fake promises considering what he couldn’t do in his four-year period.

“Assuming, he mentioned names of clubs to say, before we begin next season campaign I will give you buses, fair enough but with all what he said, oh NO they’re fake promises”.

He added; “Football people knows what they want. Don’t get panic with what happened inside the Congress room”

“It was just few people doing, their banter if you watched carefully, so don’t have to be worried.

“Football people know what they want”, he said this after the Congress to the media.
