The attacking midfielder who is bound to leave Johan Cruyff Arena this summer, suffered a heavy defeat to Borussia Dortmund in AFC Ajax Amsterdam preseason friendly on Sunday.

Kudus Mohammed started for the Red and Whites as they lost 3-1 despite taking the lead in the first half.

Ajax had a brilliant start to the game, opening the scoring in the 7th minute through Brian Brobbey. Brain broke the deadlock with a beautiful header after connecting with Steven Bergwijn’s Cross from the left flank.

Kudus outfit headed to the dressing room with a 1-0 advantage but returned to suffer a 3-1 defeat after conceding thrice in 45 minutes.

The Ghana International Kudus Mohammed lasted 77 minutes on the field as, he was substituted for Carlos Forbs who came on for his first minute.

Kudus, 23, has been targeted by English clubs Chelsea FC and Brighton & Hove Albion for a move this season with the Blue and Whites (Brighton) keen on signing him from Ajax having agreed in principle with Ajax for his signature.

The deal if finalised, is in the region of €40million (£34.5m; $44m). It would make it a club-record purchase, surpassing the price paid for Joao Pedro this summer, which was just under £30million.
