Bechem United head coach Kobina Amissah has attributed his side’s crucial Ghana Premier League victory over Heart of Lions to their ability to strike early and manage the game thereafter.

The Hunters secured all three points in their Week 20 encounter at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, courtesy of a fourth-minute goal from star forward Augustine Okrah. The early breakthrough proved decisive in what turned out to be a tightly contested affair.

Reacting after the final whistle, Amissah praised both teams for the quality of the contest while highlighting how the opening goal shaped his side’s approach.

“First of all, I will encourage my players for putting up such a performance because Heart of Lions were tactically disciplined. The game itself was a nice game from both teams,” he said in his post-match interview.

The Bechem United boss explained that scoring so early allowed his team to stay compact and withstand sustained pressure from their opponents.

“We were lucky we scored very early, and I think that helped us to absorb the pressure. We were able to contain their pressure, and all in all, it was a lovely game. I’m excited by the performance of both teams,” Amissah added.

The win has lifted Bechem United to ninth place on the Ghana Premier League standings with 27 points after 20 matches. More importantly, the result has significantly strengthened their push to steer clear of relegation as the season heads into its decisive phase.
