Kofi Adams Set to Address AIPS Africa Congress in The Gambia
Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, will headline Ghana’s delegation to the 2026 Association of International Sports Press (AIPS) Africa Congress, scheduled to take place in Banjul, The Gambia.
The Sports Minister has been invited as a key speaker at the high-level congress, where he will deliver a presentation on “The Role of Government in Africa Sports Development.” His address is expected to focus on policy direction, state involvement, and sustainable frameworks for advancing sports across the continent.
The congress will be chaired by His Excellency Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia, underlining the significance of the gathering in shaping sports development discourse in Africa.
Hon. Kofi Adams will share the platform with several prominent African sports administrators and policymakers, including Gambia’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Mr. Bakary Y. Bajide; Nigeria’s National Sports Commissioner, Hon. Shehu Dikko; Mali’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Abdoul Kassim Ibrahim Fomba; and Senegal’s Minister for Youth and Sports, Hon. Khady Gaye.
Also expected to be present is the Secretary General of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG), Charles Osei Asibey, representing Ghana’s sports media community at the continental forum.
The AIPS Africa Congress serves as a major platform for dialogue between governments, sports administrators, and the media, with this year’s edition set to highlight the evolving role of public policy in driving sports development across Africa.
