Ghana’s senior women’s national team, the Black Queens, will kick-start their build-up to the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations by competing in the Pinks Ladies Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

The invitational tournament, slated for February 28 to March 6, is expected to provide the Queens with valuable competitive action as they fine-tune preparations for the continental championship. Ghana will face international opposition from Russia, Hong Kong, and Tanzania in what promises to be a demanding test of form and readiness.

Under the guidance of head coach Kim Lars Björkegren, the tournament will serve as an important assessment phase, offering an opportunity to blend experience with emerging talent. The coaching staff is expected to use the matches to experiment with tactical setups, improve cohesion, and evaluate player fitness levels ahead of WAFCON.

The Pinks Ladies Cup is widely viewed as a strong preparatory competition, exposing teams to varied styles of play and match scenarios similar to those encountered at major tournaments. For the Black Queens, the fixtures will be a chance to identify strengths to build on and areas that require refinement.

According to the Ghana Football Association, Ghana’s participation reflects a joint commitment from the FA and the Government to ensure the women’s national team receives the best possible preparation as they aim to compete for honours at WAFCON 2026.

The final squad list for the UAE trip is yet to be unveiled, with the team expected to travel shortly before the start of the tournament.
