Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams remains confident the Black Stars can overcome the absence of midfielder Thomas Partey and deliver a strong performance when Ghana begins its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign against Panama on June 17.

The ongoing uncertainty surrounding Partey’s availability following his visa denial has dominated discussions ahead of the tournament, but Adams believes the situation has strengthened the team’s resolve rather than weakened it.

Speaking on TV3 on Friday, June 12, the Minister revealed that the atmosphere within Ghana’s camp in the United States remains upbeat and focused as preparations enter their final stages.

According to him, the players have responded positively to the challenge and are determined to prove themselves on football’s biggest stage.

“I think the camp is really very, very positive,” Mr Adams said.

The Minister suggested that external circumstances would not derail Ghana’s ambitions at the tournament, insisting that the Black Stars are prepared to respond with resilience and determination.

“No matter which countries are teaming together to do what, attempting to stop Thomas from partaking in the first game or whatever, to whose advantage or whatever, we don’t know. Ghana’s Black Stars will rise.”

“We will shine everywhere like the way we have always done,” he stated.

Ghana are currently putting the finishing touches to their preparations ahead of their Group L opener, with head coach Carlos Queiroz and his technical team focused on ensuring the squad is ready for the challenge against Panama.
