Legon Cities FC have officially parted ways with head coach Yaw Acheampong following a string of poor results that have plunged the club deep into the relegation zone of the Ghana Premier League.

Acheampong, who took over midway through the season from Paa Kwesi Fabin, was brought in with the mandate to revive the team’s faltering form. However, after continued struggles on the pitch, the club has opted for a change in technical leadership.

Speaking to Citi Sports, Communications Director Kwame Dwomoh Agyemang admitted the decision to relieve Acheampong of his duties was a difficult one but necessary given the club’s precarious position.

“It was a hard decision we had to take; results had not been great and we found ourselves sucked into the relegation zone and we felt we had to do something, we felt we had to move in a different direction,” Agyemang explained.

“It was a tough decision, but management was of the opinion that results were not coming in like we wanted when we hired Mr. Yaw Acheampong,” he added.

Legon Cities currently sit 17th on the Ghana Premier League table with 25 points after 30 matches, just one place above bottom and in desperate need of results to avoid the drop.
