I Need to Prioritize My Health- Baba Rahman on Black Stars absence
Black Stars defender, Abdul Baba Rahman has attributed his absence from the national team to his health.
The left-back last featured for Ghana in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier against Central African Republic last September in Kumasi.
According to reports, the 30-year-old decided not to feature for the Black Stars again due to the bad treatment he received from the fans in Kumasi.
However, in an interview with BBC Sport Africa, Baba Rahman shared insights into his decision to temporarily step away from the Ghana national team to focus on his fitness and recovery from persistent injuries.
“It’s a personal decision to take a break to concentrate on my fitness because I’ve not had a great time with injuries,” Rahman explained. “When I joined PAOK last year, I thought it was wise to stay away a bit from international football to get my fitness back.”
Rahman, who has faced multiple injuries over recent seasons, emphasized the importance of prioritizing his health before returning to the national side. “Fans are asking me all the time to come back to play for Ghana, but I think I need to take care of my health before everything right now,” he said.
