The Black Stars have arrived in Philadelphia ahead of their decisive Group L encounter against Croatia, with Ghana knowing victory on Saturday will secure a place in the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Carlos Queiroz’s men travelled from Providence, Rhode Island, on Thursday after wrapping up their training programme at Bryant University. The squad had held a recovery session on Wednesday following their hard-fought goalless draw with England at Gillette Stadium.

After settling into their hotel in Philadelphia, the team is scheduled to complete one final training session on Friday before shifting full focus to the crucial clash at Lincoln Financial Field.

Ghana head into the final group fixture in an encouraging position, having collected four points from their opening two matches. The Black Stars kicked off their campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Panama before producing a disciplined display to earn a valuable point against England.

A win over Croatia would send Ghana into the Round of 32 for the first time since their memorable run to the quarter-finals at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The mood within the camp was further lifted before the journey to Philadelphia by a visit from a senior Ghanaian government delegation.

The delegation was led by Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, H.E. Victor Smith, and included Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams, Minister for Foreign Affairs Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and businessman Ibrahim Mahama.

During the visit, the officials congratulated the players and technical team on their performances so far and delivered messages of support from President John Dramani Mahama ahead of the decisive fixture.

Members of the delegation also expressed confidence that the Black Stars could overcome Croatia and extend their stay at the tournament, while Ibrahim Mahama pledged a special financial bonus should the team qualify for the knockout rounds.

Elsewhere in Group L, England will face Panama at the same time, with both matches set to kick off simultaneously as the race for qualification reaches its climax.

With qualification within touching distance, Ghana will be aiming to complete the job in Philadelphia and continue an impressive World Cup campaign under Carlos Queiroz.
