Black Maidens Aim for Final Spot in WAFU B U-17 Cup
The assistant coach of Ghana’s Black Maidens, Aboagye Dacosta, has expressed optimism about the team’s chances of securing a place in the finals of the WAFU B U-17 Women’s Cup.
Ghana will lock horns with Ivory Coast in the semi-finals of the WAFU B Girls Cup today in Prampram in the quest to win the trophy.
The Maidens recorded back-to-back wins against Benin in the group stages to book a place in the semis.
Speaking about the team’s preparation, Dacosta highlighted the strategic approach spearheaded by the head coach, who has been guiding the team for the past decade.
“We have an experienced coach who has been with the ladies for the past ten years now. He has devised a plan for us, and we will work on it today. All we want to do is win—even if it’s by a small margin, a win is a win,” Dacosta stated.
He also called on Ghanaians to support the team with their prayers and encouragement.
“All that I’m asking for is [the fans] to rally behind us and pray for us,” he appealed.
The winner will play against Nigeria or Benin in the finals of the tournament.
