Head coach of Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko, says his side is fully focused on securing victory against Heart of Lions FC as the race for the Ghana Premier League title approaches a dramatic conclusion.

League leaders Medeama will host Heart of Lions in a high-stakes Week 33 fixture at the TnA Stadium on Sunday, knowing that three points could place them within touching distance of the championship.

With only two games left in the season, Medeama currently sit two points clear of Bibiani Gold Stars FC at the top of the table.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Tanko stressed the importance of securing victory to strengthen the club’s title ambitions before the final round of matches.

“We want to win this game so that our chances will be almost 90% before the last game. So definitely we are going to work hard for this game,” Tanko told Medi TV.

Despite Medeama’s strong position in the standings, the former Ghana national football team assistant coach warned his players against becoming complacent.

According to Tanko, the team must maintain maximum concentration and prepare with the same seriousness they would for any difficult fixture.

“We have to have a lot of conversations with the players. We are still leading the table, but I don’t think we should feel comfortable because we are playing at home. We have to prepare well, like any other game,” he added.

A victory on Sunday would move Medeama closer to winning their second Ghana Premier League title and place significant pressure on their closest challengers heading into the final matchday.

Kick-off at the TnA Stadium is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
