Ibrahim Sunday Calls for Government Support in Sports Development
Former Black Stars player and African football legend, Ibrahim Sunday, has urged the Ghanaian government to take a more active role in the development of sports in the country.
Speaking in an interview, Sunday highlighted the critical role governments play in fostering sports growth globally and stressed the need for Ghana to adopt similar practices to support its athletes and infrastructure.
“I think that the government needs to help with sports development in the country,” he stated. “We are in Ghana, but we know what other governments in other countries are doing to develop their sports.” He told Asempa FM.
Sunday’s remarks come at a time when Ghanaian sports, beyond football, continue to face challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited funding, and insufficient support for grassroots programs.
