I was treated the same way as my sons when I was playing for the Black Stars – Abedi Pele

Football legend, Abedi Pele, has opened up about how his sons, Jordan and Andre Ayew, are treated by Ghanaians when playing for the senior national team, the Black Stars.

The 1993 Champions League winner with Marseille believes it was the same treatment he experienced during his playing days.

Jordan and Andre are at the centre of most criticisms from Ghanaians, sometimes if the Black Stars have games, the names of these two lead the tends on social media hours before the game starts.

The two have been playing for the Black Stars for over a decade now and are among the relied upon senior players in the team.

When questioned how he reacts to these criticisms, the three-time African Footballer of the Year disclosed he has no qualms about that.

“They’ve never got it wrong; they’ve never,“ he responded when the questioner Sammy Yeboah said sometimes Jordan and Andre Ayew get it wrong, before adding, “what I can say is they’ve never left me alone. When I was playing, it was the same.

“So, I have nothing wrong with it. Because they know you have it and you can do it that is why they come at you.

“If you don’t have it, nobody will call your name.”

The 59-year-old was part of the last group of Black Stars to win the Africa Cup of Nations 41 years ago in Libya.
