The Communications Director of Accra Hearts of Oak, Kwame Opare Addo, has stated that the club is fully focused on ending the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign on a high by securing a place in the top four.

The Phobians are set to welcome defending champions FC Samartex to the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, June 8, in what will be their final fixture of the season.

Currently sitting fifth on the league table with 55 points, Hearts of Oak are within touching distance of a top-four finish. And according to Opare Addo, that goal is now their main motivation, having missed out on the league title.

“We are hoping to end the season on a positive note by finishing in the top four since we have not been able to win the league,” Opare Addo told Sporty FM.

The final matchday fixture is expected to be a tough test, with Samartex also aiming to finish strong after clinching the title weeks ago.

Meanwhile, Opare Addo also used the opportunity to rubbish reports suggesting that head coach Aboubakar Ouattara will be relieved of his duties after the season concludes.

“Aboubakar Ouattara remains the substantive head coach of Hearts of Oak. No decision has been taken by the club,” he clarified.

Ouattara, who joined the club mid-season, has guided Hearts of Oak through a turbulent but improving campaign, with the team finding some rhythm in the closing stages.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium as Hearts of Oak aim to close out the season with a victory that could secure them a place among the league’s elite.
