GPL: Ouattara Eyes Win Against Berekum Chelsea
Accra Hearts of Oak head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara, has reaffirmed his side’s readiness to battle Berekum Chelsea in their crucial Ghana Premier League encounter this weekend, despite acknowledging the strength of the Berekum-based team.
Hearts of Oak currently occupy 6th position on the league log with 45 points and are seeking to continue their push toward a top-four finish.
Berekum Chelsea, on the other hand, sit 11th with 41 points . They will be banking on their impressive record at the Golden City Park to frustrate the Phobians and improve their league standing.
Speaking in an interview on Sportsnite on Asempa FM ahead of the matchday 31 fixture, Ouattara was full of respect for his opponents, who reached the semifinals of this season’s MTN FA Cup but were beaten by Asante Kotoko. However, he made it clear that Hearts of Oak are focused on securing all three points.
“We respect Chelsea—they’re strong and in they were in the FA Cup semis,” Ouattara admitted. “But we’re focused, prepared, and ready to fight for the win.”
The clash promises to be a fiercely contested one, as both teams have plenty to play for—Hearts aiming to stay in the top four race, while Chelsea look to avoid being dragged into the relegation battle.
Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 PM on Sunday at the Golden City Park in Berekum.
