Communications Director of Asante Kotoko, Sarfo Duku, has made it clear that the club will not be undergoing a massive squad overhaul at the end of the current season, despite recent changes in the technical direction and player interest from across the globe.

Kotoko, who parted ways with head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum midway through the second round of the season due to a string of underwhelming performances, appointed Abdul Karim Zito on an interim basis to guide the team through the remainder of the campaign.

Speaking on Kumasi-based Akoma FM, Sarfo Duku explained that although Kotoko continues to attract significant attention from local and foreign players, the club is determined to avoid the widespread squad changes that have characterized previous seasons.

“Despite the fact that players and their agents from Ghana and beyond have expressed great interest in playing for Kotoko on a daily basis, I can tell our supporters that the club will not buy and transfer players in bulk, come next season,” Duku stated.

“This act is clearly detrimental to the club’s future, and both parties — namely management and the technical team — have agreed that it will not occur.”

He added that only a few additions would be made, as the club seeks to build stability within the team.

“Certainly, there will be one or two additions, but they won’t be numerous, as has been the case in recent seasons,” he clarified.

Asante Kotoko, having reached the final of the FA Cup, will aim to keep their Ghana Premier League title hopes alive when they host Dreams FC in a crucial Matchday 31 fixture at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday. Kick-off is scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
