The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has declined membership applications from six sporting disciplines, citing their failure to meet the required criteria.

The affected disciplines are: Breaking Federation, Bobsled and Skeleton Federation (BSF-Ghana), Ghana Flying Disc Association, Federation of Ski and Sliding Sports – Ghana, Ghana Wrestling Association, and the Bowling Federation

The decision was made during an extraordinary congress held last Saturday at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch in Accra.

GOC President Ben Nunoo Mensah explained that the rejections were due to the applicants’ inability to submit essential documents such as meeting minutes, bank account details, and Registrar General’s Department certificates. He urged the affected organizations to fulfill these requirements to be reconsidered for membership.

Master Norbert Amefu, President of the Ghana Wrestling Association, has challenged the GOC’s decision, asserting that his federation had met all stipulated requirements. He expressed frustration, stating that after nearly two years of waiting, the GOC added new conditions, which he claimed had already been satisfied.
