Ghana’s first-ever Olympic medalist Clement Ike Quartey passes on
Ghanaian legendary boxer, Clement Ike Quartey Snr has passed away today 2nd November 2024 in the United Kingdom.
Clement Quartey who was the senior brother of Ike “Bazooka” Quartey died at the age of 86 in London.
Clement Ike Quartey, Ghana's first Olympic medalist (silver, Rome, 1960) has passed away, this morning, in London, aged 86.
He was survived by his two children, Clifton and Alex.

Noted as one of the pioneers of boxing in Ghana, Clement Quartey won a silver medal in the Light Welterweight (63.5kg) category in the I960 Olympic Games in Rome.
In 1962, he won a gold medal at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games hosted in Australia.
