Ghana’s girls’ team, the Black Damsels, are on the brink of defending their continental crown after booking a place in the final of the 2026 CAF African Schools Football Championship.

The defending champions secured their spot with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Zambia in Thursday’s semi-final, continuing an impressive run that has now taken them to back-to-back finals in the competition.

The decisive moment came early in the contest, with Blessing Tettey producing a stunning effort in the eighth minute. Latching onto the ball on the right flank, she unleashed a long-range strike that sailed past the Zambian goalkeeper, ultimately proving enough to separate the two sides.

The upcoming final presents a familiar challenge, as Ghana prepare to face Burkina Faso once again. The West African rivals have already had the upper hand over the Black Damsels in both the WAFU B regional qualifiers final and during the group phase of the current tournament.

For Ghana, the match offers not only a chance to retain the title they won in Accra last year against Uganda, but also an opportunity for redemption against a side that has proven difficult to overcome.

The final is slated for Friday, April 10, where the Black Damsels will look to rise to the occasion and reaffirm their dominance on the continental stage.
