Ghana Names Squad for 2025 African AirBadminton Championships
The Ghana Badminton Association (GBA) has officially unveiled the national team for the 2025 African AirBadminton Championships, marking a pivotal step in the country’s dual mission to defend its continental title and host the global AirBadminton World Series.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, June 17, as Ghana gears up for a historic season in the sport.
The defending African champions will commence residential training this weekend, focusing their preparations on both the upcoming African championship and the AirBadminton World Series tournament, which Ghana will host from July 3 to 6, 2025, at the Laboma Beach Resort in Accra.
This year’s event is groundbreaking, as Ghana becomes the first West African country to host a major international badminton event — one of only five stops globally in the prestigious AirBadminton World Series.
Ghana’s hosting of the tournament is not only symbolic of the nation’s growing influence in African badminton but also a testament to the development of the sport across the country
The GBA has assembled a competitive team of eight athletes representing five regions across Ghana. Each will compete in both Men’s and Women’s Triples and Mixed Team Relay events:
-
Rachael Quarcoo – Korle Gonno, Greater Accra Region (Women’s Triple, Mixed Team Relay)
-
Leslie Nii Adote Addo – Osu, Greater Accra Region (Men’s Triple, Mixed Team Relay)
-

The team blends experience and youthful energy, with each athlete selected based on performance, consistency, and ability to thrive in the fast-paced, outdoor format of AirBadminton.
