Jeremy Doku Reaffirms Ghanaian Roots with Visit to Sports Minister Kofi Adams
Manchester City winger and Belgium international, Jeremy Doku, has reaffirmed his commitment to his Ghanaian heritage during a heartfelt courtesy call on the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, in Accra.
The 23-year-old, currently enjoying his off-season break, was accompanied by his father, Mr. Davies Doku, and other family members as he visited the country of his ancestry. He was warmly received by the Minister, who praised the young footballer for continuing to embrace his roots.
Doku, who has consistently spoken proudly of his background, expressed deep appreciation for the unwavering support he receives from Ghanaians both locally and internationally.
“I cannot shine unless people put me on,” Doku stated. “I’m proud of my Ghanaian roots, I speak Twi, and I want to come back more often to give back to the land of my parents.”
In his remarks, Hon. Kofi Adams hailed Doku as a symbol of excellence and an inspiration for the youth of Ghana.
“Though you play for Belgium, every time you step on the pitch, Ghana is mentioned,” the Minister said. “We are proud of your growth and even more inspired by your heart.”
Doku’s visit to Ghana goes beyond reconnecting with his roots. He has quietly made stops at Komfo Anokye and Achimota Hospitals, reflecting his commitment to ongoing charitable efforts in the country.
