Ghana Must Be Better Than Croatia- Carlos Queiroz
Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has made it clear that Ghana will not play for a draw when they face Croatia in their final Group L match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting his side’s only ambition is to outperform their opponents.
The Black Stars go into Saturday’s encounter in a favourable position after collecting four points from their opening two matches, having defeated Panama before holding England to a goalless draw.
While a point could be enough to send Ghana into the Round of 32, Queiroz says his team will adopt an attacking mindset as they chase another victory.
“Tomorrow, we only have one option. We need to come out more stronger and better than Croatia,” the Portuguese tactician told reporters during his pre-match press conference.
Since taking charge of the Black Stars in April, Queiroz has overseen an impressive transformation, guiding Ghana to an unbeaten start at the tournament while building one of the competition’s most disciplined defensive units.
The Black Stars have yet to concede a goal in the group stage, with clean sheets against both Panama and England strengthening belief that the four-time African champions can make a deep run in the tournament.
Saturday’s clash presents Ghana with the opportunity to finish at the summit of Group L, although the final standings will also depend on the outcome of England’s meeting with Panama.
Regardless of other results, Queiroz wants his players to concentrate solely on producing another strong display against the 2018 World Cup finalists.
