The National Sports Authority (NSA) has announced that Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali generated an estimated GH₵1.46 million in gate proceeds, marking a significant financial milestone for the nation’s football administration.

NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah disclosed the figures ahead of the Black Stars’ decisive qualifier against Comoros this Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, highlighting the Authority’s readiness to host another major football spectacle.

According to Ampofo Ankrah, 80% of the total revenue from the Mali match was allocated to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, while the NSA retained 20% after settling deductions related to taxes, pitch maintenance, staff allowances, security, and medical support.

He noted that the upcoming clash against Comoros could yield even greater financial returns, as the stadium’s capacity has been expanded from 26,000 to 35,000 spectators following the reopening of a previously closed section that had undergone maintenance work.

The Black Stars head into the fixture  against Comoros with hope high to confirm their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With enthusiasm building across the nation, the NSA expects both a strong financial outcome and a memorable football occasion as Ghana edges closer to another appearance on the world stage.
