The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is gearing up to make significant changes to the Black Stars technical team as part of efforts to enhance the team’s performance.

According to reports, the GFA is preparing to part ways with assistant coaches John Paintsil and Joseph Laumann, with their replacements already identified.

This move by the GFA underscores its commitment to bolstering the technical support around the team as Ghana looks to secure qualification for the next World Cup and improve its overall competitiveness on the global stage.

Henry Asante Twum, Communications Director of the GFA, has confirmed that the association plans to restructure the backroom staff of the national team, led by head coach Otto Addo.

Speaking in an interview with Joy Sports, Asante Twum revealed that discussions regarding these changes were part of the GFA Executive Council’s deliberations last year.

“After the last meeting where Otto [Addo] presented his report to the Council, there were loads of considerations, discussions, analyses. They looked at all the departments, the technical team, backroom staff, and other service providers,” he explained.

“At the end of the day, there was the need to make some changes,” Asante Twum added.

Although the decision has not yet been officially announced, the changes are expected to be implemented before the Black Stars assemble in March for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
