The Ghana Football Association is expected to take a major step toward appointing a new Black Stars head coach as its Executive Council convenes an emergency meeting on April 10, 2026.

The urgent gathering comes on the back of Ghana’s disappointing results in recent international friendlies, where defeats to the Austria and Germany national teams raised fresh concerns about the team’s readiness for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With the tournament in North America just months away, the pressure is mounting on football authorities to quickly install a new technical leader capable of steering the team in the right direction.

Several high-profile names have already emerged as potential candidates, including Carlos Queiroz, Paulo Bento, and Fernando Santos. The Executive Council is expected to deliberate on these options and move closer to a final decision during the meeting.

Once the appointment is confirmed, preparations for the World Cup are expected to ramp up in May, with friendly matches already scheduled against Mexico and Wales as part of the build-up.

Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup finals and faces a challenging Group L, where Panama, England, and Croatia await in what promises to be a demanding campaign for the Black Stars.
