The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has officially appointed Coach Kassim Ocansey, popularly known as Kassim Mingle, as the new Head Coach of the Black Meteors, Ghana’s Male U-23 National Team.

Coach Mingle brings a vast coaching repertoire to the role, honed through his work with top-tier Ghanaian clubs such as Accra Great Olympics, Bechem United, and Nations FC, where he is currently the head coach. His extensive experience also includes coaching at the Academy, Colts, and second-tier levels of Ghana football, equipping him with a comprehensive understanding of talent development from the grassroots.

The appointment signals a renewed commitment to reviving the Black Meteors’ status as a dominant force in global football. The team famously won Africa’s first Olympic medal in football at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. Mingle’s appointment aligns with the GFA’s ambition to reclaim this legacy and rebuild the team into a formidable unit.

Before transitioning to coaching, Kassim Mingle enjoyed a vibrant playing career, representing clubs such as Dumas Boys of GTP, GIHOC Stars, Sekondi Eleven Wise, and Accra Standfast over eight years. His playing background and coaching expertise give him a unique perspective on the game, particularly in nurturing and maximizing the potential of young players.
