Berekum Chelsea have confirmed funeral arrangements for their late forward Dominic Frimpong, with the 20-year-old set to be laid to rest on April 29, 2026, in Assin Fosu in the Central Region.

The announcement comes in the wake of a tragic incident that has shaken the Ghanaian football community, following the player’s death after an armed robbery attack on the team’s bus. The attack occurred along the Ahyiresu–Kwame Dwumor Sreso stretch as the club travelled back from a Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex.

Frimpong, who was on loan from Aduana FC, sustained a fatal gunshot wound during the ordeal and was later pronounced dead after being rushed to hospital.

In a statement, the club indicated that the burial will take place in his hometown, where family members, teammates, officials and supporters are expected to gather to honour his memory and celebrate his life.

Since the incident, Berekum Chelsea have halted all football-related activities, allowing players and staff time to recover from the trauma. The club has initiated medical and psychological support measures, with a gradual return to normal operations anticipated in the coming weeks.

Investigations into the robbery are ongoing, with the Ghana Police Service confirming that two suspects, including an alleged gang leader, have already been arrested.
