Frederick Asare Bids Emotional Farewell to Asante Kotoko
Goalkeeper Frederick Asare has officially parted ways with Asante Kotoko, drawing the curtain on a remarkable three-year stint with the Ghana Premier League giants.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper confirmed his departure following unsuccessful talks over a contract extension.
In an emotional farewell message, Asare expressed his deep appreciation to the club’s hierarchy, players, and fans for their unwavering support during his time in Kumasi.
“From the depth of my heart, I say a very big THANK YOU to His Royal Majesty, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, the management, teammates, and of course, the amazing supporters of this GREAT CLUB,” he said.
Asare, who joined Kotoko in 2022 from Accra Lions, quickly rose to become a key figure in the team. Despite losing his starting spot to Guinean international Mohammed Camara during the 2024/25 season, he left on a high note, having helped the club lift the MTN FA Cup.
Reflecting on his growth at the club, Asare noted how much he had developed both personally and professionally during his tenure.
“I came here as a young boy, but after 3 wonderful years, this club has transformed me into a warrior,” he stated.
He also paid tribute to the cherished memory of captaining the team during their FA Cup triumph, a moment that highlighted his contributions to the Porcupine Warriors.
Looking ahead, Asare wished the club well, affirming his lifelong bond with Kotoko.
“I will FOREVER remain one of you, and the great memories we have shared will be with me forever. I wish the club the very best for the next season and the many seasons to come,” he concluded.
Asare’s departure marks a significant development in Kotoko’s ongoing squad overhaul as they prepare for the 2025/26 season and their campaign in the CAF Confederation Cup. The goalkeeper is now a free agent and is reportedly attracting interest from clubs both locally and abroad.
