Ghana’s national team has arrived in the United States as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the Black Stars now entering the final stage of their build-up to the global tournament.

The squad travelled from Wales on Wednesday following their encouraging 1-1 draw against the Welsh national team in Cardiff and will establish their training base at Bryant University in Providence, Rhode Island.

A large group of Ghanaian supporters turned out to welcome the team upon arrival, creating a lively atmosphere as players interacted with fans, posed for photographs and signed autographs.

The warm reception highlighted the excitement among supporters ahead of Ghana’s fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup and their first participation in the expanded 48-team competition.

The Black Stars head into the tournament with renewed confidence after ending a difficult run of results during the international windows. Their draw against Wales marked Ghana’s first positive outcome since October 2025, halting a streak of four consecutive defeats.

The performance in Cardiff also provided several encouraging signs for head coach Carlos Queiroz, who took charge of his first match since being appointed in April. Ghana showed resilience under pressure and produced moments of attacking quality, with midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi scoring his maiden goal for the senior national team.

Before beginning their World Cup campaign, the Black Stars are expected to play one final preparatory fixture against Jamaica on June 10. The match will offer Queiroz another opportunity to fine-tune his tactics and assess his squad ahead of the tournament opener.

Ghana will begin their Group L campaign against Panama on June 17 before taking on England and Croatia in what promises to be a highly competitive group.

The Black Stars will be aiming to reach the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time since their memorable run at the 2010 tournament in South Africa, where they advanced to the quarter-finals and came within a penalty shootout of a historic semi-final appearance.

With the squad now settled in the United States and preparations gathering momentum, attention will turn to ensuring the team is fully ready for the challenges that lie ahead on football’s biggest stage.
