“Black Stars’ Focus Will Determine Victory Against Central African Republic”- Bashiru Hayford
Head coach of Kpando Heart of Lions, Bashiru Hayford, believes Ghana’s chances of defeating the Central African Republic (CAR) in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will rest heavily on the mindset and determination of the Black Stars players.
Ghana are currently at the top of Group I and could seal qualification with a win against CAR, depending on results from other group fixtures.
The Black Stars will take on Central African Republic on Wednesday, October 8, before hosting Comoros in their final group fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The experienced tactician stressed that the team’s success will depend more on focus and commitment than tactics or reputation, urging the players to give their best effort in the decisive encounter.
“Beating Central African Republic (CAR) will depend on the Black Stars players. If they’re truly focused on qualifying us for the World Cup,” Hayford told Asempa FM.
Hayford, who has previously handled both local and national teams, expressed confidence that the Black Stars have the quality to get the job done — but only if they maintain full concentration throughout the match.
He added that games of this magnitude often come down to mental strength and unity, qualities he believes the team must display to secure a spot in the 2026 tournament.
