Ghana Athletics President Bawah Fuseini Named CAA Leader of the Year 2024
Ghana Athletics President Bawah Fuseini has been honored as the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Leader of the Year 2024.
This prestigious recognition comes in light of his exceptional leadership and organizational prowess during the 13th All-Africa Games hosted by Ghana in March 2024.
Mr. Fuseini, who took over the reins of Ghana Athletics in August 2023, played a pivotal role in elevating the standards of athletics at the Games, earning widespread acclaim across the continent.
In its announcement, the CAA highlighted the outstanding success of the athletics events.
“In March 2024, Ghana hosted the 13th All-Africa Games. It was unanimously agreed that the best competition of the Games was the athletics events, both in terms of the quality of the organization and the attendance and enthusiasm of the public in the Ghanaian capital.
“The stadium was packed, with an atmosphere worthy of major sporting events. The Confederation of African Athletics decided to award its President, Bawah Fuseini, the distinction of Best Leader of the Year 2024. President Bawah Fuseini played a major role in this success.”
Under Fuseini’s leadership, Ghana Athletics has gained significant international recognition. His efforts to secure hosting rights for the 24th African Athletics Championships in 2026 demonstrate his commitment to positioning Ghana as a leading destination for athletics on the continent.
