Black Stars Begin Austria Preparations with 21 Players in Vienna Camp
Black Stars have officially stepped up preparations for their upcoming international friendly against Austria, with 21 players taking part in the team’s opening training session in Vienna.
The squad gathered at the Vienna Football Campus on Monday, where activities were tailored to suit players’ varying fitness levels following weekend club duties. Those who featured heavily for their teams were put through recovery routines, while others engaged in tactical drills and finishing exercises.
All four debut call-ups, Patrick Pfeiffer, Derrick Luckassen, Marvin Senaya, and Daniel Agyei were actively involved, getting their first taste of training with the senior national team.
Midfield anchor Thomas Partey linked up with the squad later in the day, while defenders Alexander Djiku and Kojo Oppong Peprah are expected to complete the group upon arrival on Tuesday.
Ghana will face Austria on March 27 at the Ernst Happel Stadium before travelling to Stuttgart to take on Germany three days later.
Drawn in a challenging Group L alongside England, Croatia, and Panama, the Black Stars are using the European tour to fine-tune tactics and assess squad depth ahead of the global tournament.
