Benjamin Asare Backs Hearts of Oak Title Push After Super Clash Victory
Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare believes the Phobians are firmly in the race for the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title following their crucial win over Asante Kotoko in Kumasi.
Hearts secured a narrow but significant 1-0 victory in Sunday’s Super Clash at the Baba Yara Stadium, with Baba Adamu’s first-half header separating the two giants. The result reduced the gap on leaders Medeama SC and reignited Hearts’ championship ambitions.
Asare, who played a key role in preserving the clean sheet, insists the title race remains wide open and urged his teammates to stay focused in the remaining matches.
“Yes, anyone can still win it. If you look at the top four or five teams, it’s all about determination on the field. If we continue to win our matches, we have a great chance,” Asare said.
He added that the victory over Kotoko could serve as a turning point for the team as they chase silverware.
“Winning the league would be a huge opportunity for us, and I believe most of the players deserve it. This win today will help us be more aggressive and focused in our upcoming matches,” he noted.
The three points have lifted Hearts of Oak into third place on the league table with 39 points, keeping them within touching distance of the summit.
The Phobians will aim to build on the momentum when they welcome Berekum Chelsea to the University of Ghana Stadium for their Matchday 23 fixture.
