Ati-Zigi Backs Queiroz Influence as Black Stars Aim to Make Ghana Proud at World Cup
Black Stars goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi has praised head coach Carlos Queiroz for the experience and knowledge he has brought to the national team, insisting the players are committed to applying his ideas as they prepare for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Queiroz, who took charge of Ghana earlier this year, has been working closely with the squad in the United States as preparations intensify ahead of the tournament in North America.
Ati-Zigi believes the veteran Portuguese tactician’s vast experience at both club and international level is already benefiting the team and helping shape the Black Stars’ approach heading into the competition.
“He’s a very experienced coach. He has a lot of information. We just have to take the good information he gives us and try to make use of it,” the goalkeeper said.
The St. Gallen shot-stopper also stressed the importance of unity and collective effort as Ghana prepares to face some of the world’s strongest teams on football’s biggest stage.
According to Ati-Zigi, teamwork will be the foundation of the Black Stars’ ambitions as they seek to progress beyond the group phase.
“The expectation is teamwork. We’re going to fight to the end. We’re going to give it all and we hope that we’ll make Ghanaians proud.”
The Black Stars have spent the past few weeks building towards the tournament through training camps in Wales and the United States, where Queiroz has focused on improving cohesion and tactical discipline within the squad.
Ghana’s preparations have included a friendly match against Wales in Cardiff, which ended in a 1-1 draw and provided encouraging signs ahead of the World Cup.
The four-time African champions have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England and Croatia.
