Asante Kotoko booked their spot in the MTN FA Cup semifinals after a dramatic 2-1 victory over True Democracy at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors made a strong start, opening the scoring in the 13th minute when Saaka Dauda reacted quickly to a throw-in, firing a low shot past the goalkeeper.

Kotoko had a golden opportunity to extend their lead in the 38th minute after Kwame Opoku was fouled inside the box. However, Justice Blay’s penalty struck the post, allowing True Democracy to stay in contention.

The miss proved costly as True Democracy equalized in the 61st minute. A free-kick from Botchway took a heavy deflection off the defensive wall, leaving goalkeeper Mohammed Camara wrong-footed as the ball rolled into the net.

With the game seemingly heading for a penalty shootout, Kwame Opoku emerged as the hero, netting a last-gasp winner in the 93rd minute to send Kotoko into the semifinals.

The Ghana Premier League giants will now face Berekum Chelsea in the last four, with the winner advancing to the final against either Attram De Visser or Golden Kick.
