Ghana international Antoine Semenyo was in the starting line-up for AFC Bournemouth in their 2023-24 English Premier league match week 3 game against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The homesters lost 2-0, after conceding in each half of the encounter at the Vitality Stadium with James Maddison opening the scores in the 17th minute before Dejan Kulusevski doubled Tottenham lead in the 63rd minute.

Semenyo again, secured a starting berth for manager Andoni Iraola to start on the right side of attack for his team, in a 4-2-3-1 system having Dominic Solanke lead the line.

The Black Stars forward who was on the scoresheet for Bournemouth in their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool FC nearly gave the home team an advantageous lead in the first quarter but had his solo drive gone wide. Few minutes later, the visitors capitalized on that to break the deadlock through their new signing James Maddison.

Ending the half 1-0, Bournemouth were expecting a better half having created numerous goal scoring opportunities but no, luck wouldn’t smile at them till Dejan Kulusevski punished them with a header.

10′ minutes after the travellers had doubled their lead Antoine Semenyo was subbed off for David Brooks.

In three games, Semenyo has a goal and hoping to score more. He’s being very phenomenal for manager Andoni Iraola since joining in January last year.

He is expected to earn a call-up to Ghana’s national team squad for the final match of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Central African Republic.
