André Ayew Relieved After Opening NAC Breda Goal Tally
Veteran Ghana forward André Ayew believes his first goal for NAC Breda could mark the beginning of a productive spell after finally finding the net in their thrilling 3–3 draw with Feyenoord.
The 36-year-old striker scored with a powerful header to register his maiden goal for the Dutch side, ending a nine-match wait since joining the club as a free agent in January. Fellow Ghanaian Kamal Sowah also got on the scoresheet in the entertaining Eredivisie encounter.
Speaking to ESPN after the match, Ayew admitted the goal was an important moment for him as an attacking player.
“It’s always important to score goals as an offensive player, but sometimes you have to be patient, calm. I knew it was going to come,” he said.
The experienced forward explained that his primary focus had remained on helping the team secure results despite his early struggles in front of goal.
“I was very focused on us winning games. I hope it is the first of many.”
“It was due, but with my experience, I’m calm enough to know how football works. Sooner or later, when you do what you have to do on the pitch, it will come.”
Ayew will now hope the goal signals the start of a consistent scoring run as NAC Breda push for stronger results in the remainder of the season.
