Minister for Youth and Sports, Kofi Adams, has revealed that the government will take a decision on the future of Black Stars head coach Otto Addo at the appropriate time, amid growing discussions about his tenure.

Otto Addo, has faced mixed reviews from the public following Ghana’s uneven run in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars’ 1–1 draw with Chad on Matchday 7 sparked criticism of Addo’s tactical approach, but the coach steadied the ship with a narrow 1–0 victory over Mali in Accra. Ghana then went on to produce a stunning 5–0 demolition of the Central African Republic on October 8 at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknès in Morocco, rekindling optimism ahead of their final group game.

Speaking in an interview with Adom FM, Minister Kofi Adams acknowledged the divided opinions among football fans but assured that any decision about Addo’s future will be taken carefully and in the nation’s best interest.

“We indicated that at the right time, we will look at the concerns of Ghanaians, and that time will come,” Adams said.

He further emphasized the government’s responsibility to act decisively and in good faith:

“We have divided opinions at the moment, but we have been given the power to manage and rule the country, and at the end of the day, we will make the right decision on Otto Addo.”

Ghana currently sits top of Group I with 22 points, edging closer to securing qualification for the 2026 World Cup. The Black Stars will wrap up their qualifying campaign on Sunday, October 12, with a home encounter against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, kicking off at 19:00 GMT.
